MIZERLY

Privacy Policy

Effective September 15, 2026. Mizerly · United States. Privacy contact: hello@mizerly.app. This policy explains how Mizerly handles personal information when you use our iPhone app, web app, websites at mizerly.app and mizerlyapp.com, and related support services. Features differ between the iPhone app and web beta.

Information you provide

Account and preferences. When you create an account, we process your email address, authentication information, and the name and preferences you provide, such as your home currency, language, and country. Supabase provides account authentication. Expenses and receipts. We process the information you enter, scan, attach, or sync: merchants, amounts, currencies, dates, categories, notes, receipt images, extracted and translated text, budgets, recurring payments, and related settings. Payment descriptions can include a payment method, card brand, and last four digits if you provide them. Mizerly does not need your bank login to track expenses. Avoid entering full payment-card numbers or security codes in notes or uploading information you do not need for your records. Receipts and notes may contain personal information about you or other people, including addresses, loyalty identifiers, or health-related purchases. Choose carefully what you upload or share. Support. If you contact us, we receive your message, contact details, and any examples or attachments you send.

Information collected through use

Technical information. Our hosting, authentication, and email providers process information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as IP addresses, request times, browser or device information, authentication events, and delivery or error information. This is separate from the country statistics described below. Automatic country estimate. When you use signed-in web pages or sync the iPhone app, our hosting platform estimates your country from your internet connection. Mizerly's user-geography feature stores the latest country and observation time associated with your account for country-level administration statistics. This feature does not store an IP address, GPS coordinates, or a history of your movements. Networks and VPNs can affect the estimate. Disabling iPhone location permission does not disable this network-based estimate. Optional device location. With your permission, the iPhone app can use location to suggest your country and support saved-place expense reminders. Background location is used for reminders when you enable the relevant feature and grant permission. Saved expense locations can include a place name, address, coordinates, and reminder radius; location fields attached to an expense can be uploaded with that expense when you sync. You can change location permissions in iPhone Settings and manage saved reminders in Mizerly. Ordinary manual expense entry does not require GPS permission.

Receipt scanning and translation

The current iPhone app uses Apple's Vision framework to recognize receipt text and Apple's Translation framework for supported translations on your device. Translation may require downloading language resources. The current receipt flow does not send receipt content to a third-party generative-AI service for extraction or translation. When you sync or upload receipts, their images and saved information are stored with your cloud records. On-device processing therefore does not mean that a receipt you later sync remains only on your phone. Automated results can be inaccurate; review the merchant, amount, currency, date, and translation before saving. Automated receipt scanning and translation are not currently provided by the web beta.

Why we use information

We use information to provide accounts, record and organize expenses, display currency conversions, sync records, produce reports, deliver selected sharing and reminder features, answer support requests, maintain security, diagnose problems, and understand service usage and data quality. Our administrative dashboard includes aggregate operational measures such as user counts, expense counts, categories, currency coverage, and countries. These operational totals are distinct from optional cost-of-living contributions. Aggregate reporting does not mean the underlying account and expense records have been anonymized.

Optional contributions

Where offered, you may opt in to contribute expense-derived information to aggregate cost-of-living statistics. This setting is off by default. Contributions use fields such as country, category, currency, and amounts; receipt images and account contact details are not part of the aggregate output. You may turn the contribution setting off to stop including your records in future calculations that use that setting. Information that has already been irreversibly anonymized cannot be linked back to an account for individual removal.

Sharing and service providers

Sharing you choose. Household, guest-sharing, and export features disclose the records covered by your choices to the recipients you authorize. Review the scope before sharing. Revoking access cannot recall files or copies someone has already downloaded. Providers. We use Supabase for authentication, cloud database and receipt storage; Vercel for web hosting and network-based country estimation; and Resend for transactional account email. The iPhone app also uses Apple system services for capabilities such as text recognition, translation, location, and local notifications. Currency-rate requests use European Central Bank services; the rate request does not need your receipt images or merchant names. Providers process information required for their services. Authorized support or technical personnel may need access to investigate an issue, protect the service, or respond to a verified request. Private admin reporting is not a public directory of customers or their receipts. We may disclose information when required by applicable law or a valid legal request, or when necessary to protect users and the service. If the business is transferred, relevant information may transfer subject to applicable law and appropriate notice.

Device storage and cookies

The iPhone app stores local records and settings on your device. The web app uses authentication cookies and browser storage to maintain your session and support its operation. Signing out, removing the app, or clearing browser storage is not the same as deleting your cloud account. Your device or platform backup settings may also preserve copies of local information.

Retention and deletion

We retain account information and cloud records while needed to provide your account and the features you use. Records on your own device remain under your device's storage and backup controls. Removing an expense from an active view may mark it deleted rather than immediately erase every database record, attachment, or backup. To request permanent cloud-record or account deletion, contact hello@mizerly.app from your account email address. We may request proportionate verification before releasing or deleting information. We retain information only as needed for the service, verified requests, security, dispute handling, and applicable legal obligations. Backup copies may remain until the applicable backup rotation completes; recipients' independent copies are outside our control. We will explain any applicable retention exception when responding to a request.

Security and international processing

Mizerly uses authentication, access controls, and private receipt storage to restrict access. These measures do not eliminate every security risk. Keep your sign-in details private and protect devices containing your records. Our providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Different countries may provide different protections.

Your choices and rights

You can review and correct records, export available expense information, manage sharing and optional contributions, and adjust device permissions. Contact hello@mizerly.app to request access, correction, deletion, or help with data that you cannot manage in the app. Depending on the law that applies, you may also have rights to data portability, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, and complaint to your local data-protection authority. Withdrawing consent does not change the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Some requests are subject to identity verification and legal exceptions.

Children

Mizerly is not designed as a service for children. If you believe a child has supplied personal information inappropriately, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Policy changes and contact

We will update this policy when our practices change and revise its effective date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before a material change takes effect. Questions and privacy requests: hello@mizerly.app. Mizerly · United States.
